GALACID is, for instance, used for pH control in cellophane production. GALASTER EL is used as a plasticizer for cellulose ethers either alone or in combination with propylene glycol or acetyl tributyl citrate. GALASTER EL also enters in the
composition of thermosplastic adhesives. |
GALACID is recommended as pH regulator in the brightening and finishing of silk and rayon. It has no adverse effect on strength and elasticity. GALACID and GALAFLOW are also used as humectants for paper and textile processing.

GALACID is used as a complexant and pH regulator for chemical nickeling. GALASTER EL will remove silicone oils and greases, machining coolants, flux residues, tapping oils (sulfur-based), lithium grease, layout inks and fingerprints. In precision cleaning applications, GALASTER EL is used as a substitute to CFC's for applications where the surface to clean cannot be rinsed with water.

GALACID is used either as raw material or as catalyst and pH control agent for the synthesis of various resins. The optical activity of lactic acid opens the door to a wide range of stereospecific chemical reactions leading to optically active products. GALASTER EL is used for the synthesis of non-toxic pesticides.

GALACID is used for the synthesis of varnishes and coatings and for the formulation of paints, mainly for the automobile industry. Because of its high boiling point and low evaporation rate GALASTER EL is recommended for addition to paints, lacquers, varnishes, etc. Being miscible with water and most organic solvents, GALASTER EL can be added, in existing or new formulations in combination with other solvents, to optimize their functionality and efficiency. GALASTER EL is used in the formulation of liquid inks (i.e. flexo inks). Because of its low evaporation rate, such inks applied on PE surfaces benefit from very good adhesion and drying profile.
GALACID is also the base raw material for the production of Poly Lactic Acid (PLA), a new biodegradable polymer with promising applications in food packaging, non-woven products, disposable products, etc . |
GALASTER EL is widely used as a solvent for photoresist compositions. Besides it is used as a cleaning agent in the manufacture of electronic circuits, chips boards, etc. where it replaces toxic solvents like EGA or other halogenated hydrocarbons.
Other types of applications for GALACID include concrete additives, ensilage, detergents, tobacco processing, etc. The GALASTER EL range include compounds also used in liquid crystal display components, softening agent for the rubber industry, etc.
