Lactic acid in pharmaceuticals makes the insoluble soluble
Pharmaceutical companies have discovered a useful application for lactic acid in water soluble products. The addition of the additive makes it possible to add ingredients in an aqueous solution that were otherwise incompatible. The lactates produced in this process provide added versatility to active ingredients. Due to its disinfectant properties, lactic acid is also commonly used in this role for medical purposes and will occasionally be employed to reduce acidity where necessary.
