This commitment was translated into our ambition to find the best resources from nature to transform them into added-value products via the low impact process of fermentation. Today, Galactic wants to formalize its processes and monitoring further and embark on a true global all-encompassing ESG strategy.

Mission
Our mission is to develop safe, healthy, sustainable, and high-quality ingredients. We offer innovative natural solutions produced through fermentation, including a wide range of natural antimicrobials, lactic acid, lactates, and other derivatives, to (food) producers worldwide.
Our impact report
In 2025, the global landscape continued to evolve rapidly across political, economic, and regulatory dimensions. These developments elevated sustainability as a priority for both companies and policymakers and prompted Galactic to reassess where we can create the most meaningful impact, in line with our scale and responsibilities.
The initiatives undertaken during 2025 reflect this focused approach. Our efforts concentrated on tangible sustainability and ESG topics that deliver clear value today while strengthening long-term outcomes for our employees, customers and broader stakeholder community.

Our codes
In 2024 we put in place two codes that will henceforth dictate our actions, whether internally with our employees or with the people we work with externally, our suppliers.
Code of ethics
The first document, the Code of Ethics, defines the fundamental ethical principles that must be implemented in professional practices and behavior by and for all Galactic employees. It ensures a healthy workplace for all employees, which is why all employees are trained annually on the Code of Ethics. Created in 2024, it was updated in 2026.
Code of conduct
The aim of the Code of Conduct is to set a standard for our business practices throughout the value chain, and with all our stakeholders. Suppliers are therefore expected to respect and endorse the principles set out in this Code of Conduct, committing themselves to respecting human rights and the environment, and to promoting the values of excellence and responsibility.
Our 5 pillars and our commitments
Zero hunger
- We work in all our locations together with local initiatives to battle hunger close to us.
- We are working to quantify how much food waste is avoided using our preservatives.
Clean Water and Sanitation
- Critical parameters in terms of energy consumption, water usage, waste treatment and others are followed up on a regular basis.
- Reducing water consumption.
- Ensuring clean discharge from our wastewater treatment unit.
Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
- We measured the sustainability performance of our entities and did a Carbon assessment of the Belgian, the Chinese and the American entities.
- We have set improvement plans for each of our locations to optimize (sustainable) performance.
Responsible Consumption and Production
- Galactic has started cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Analyses of its product range
- A green (home) office policy was rolled out throughout the group to sensibilize all employees on energy consumption and savings strategy.
- Maximise factory efficiency to reduce energy consumption.
- Waste management to minimize environmental impact.
Climate Action
- Definition of action plan to reduce environmental impact.
- An ESG risk matrix and double materiality matrix were constructed via different workshops and surveys with stakeholders at different levels.
- Reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
