The week of Chinese New Year celebration has come to an end but we are still feeling festive due to a special occasion that matters to Galactic. 2022 marks our 20 years collaboration with Galactic China.
We took a leap that at first seemed surreal. Galactic went from a small kitchen in Belgium to a-state-of-the-art factory, becoming today one of the largest lactic acid plant in the world!
Let us share with you some of the things we take pride in our journey in China.
Did you know that:
- The very first establishing agreement was signed in 2002 with Galactic historical partner in China, BBCA Biochemical Group. Two years later, first B&G factory has started the production of lactic acid.At the inauguration event, we had among the guests - the King Philippe of Belgium and Chinese Government representatives. This will remain a special event in our history.
- In 2005, within a bilateral visit between Belgium King Albert II and President of People's Republic of China, Galactic signed a new cooperation agreement with BBCA Group to study deeper the PLA production at industrial scale. The signing ceremony took place in the Great Hall of People in Beijing.
- In 2019 Galactic China relocates its factory to a new site. Two joint-ventures are successfully launched with Futerro, for the production of Lactic Acid & PLA.
Thanks to the technical expertise and employee’s dedication, both factories were able to be operational already in the first year of the pandemic, in 2020. Today, our Lactic Acid and PLA plants are among the largest ones in the world!
The establishment of Galactic in China opens us great possibilities for innovations and products development. By putting our efforts together, we build bridges across Asian markets supporting local communities to developing sustainable Food and Non-food products.
